CN or Canadian National Railways was a government owned rail company brought about by the failure of the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) and subsequently the Grand Trunk Railway (GTR). In 1995 the Canadian Government divested itself of the railway selling it into private ownership and within the next few years it was subsequently merged with the Illinois Central. Thus began an era of both expansion and shrinkage while the primary CN system was chopped and made leaner and meaner they aquired smaller rail companies such as British Columbia Railways (BCR), and Elgin, Joliet and Eastern (EJE).

Operating Area
